A dacoit named Ruhul Amin (35) was killed in a gang beating in Charmohana Union in Raipur Upazila of Laxmipur.
He died on Friday morning while undergoing treatment at Laxmipur Sadar Hospital. The deceased is the son of Ershad Howladar of Charlakshi village of Ruhul Amin upazila. There are 3 robbery cases against him in the police station. Last month he came out of jail after getting bail from the court in 3 cases.
Injured mail merchant Sharif Hossain, who is under treatment at the police and hospital, said that a group of robbers broke the door of his house late on Thursday night and attacked. At this time the people in the house started screaming. The robbers then beat him up and injured him and escaped with Tk 2 lakh in cash and some gold ornaments. Later the people around came forward and caught the dacoit Ruhul Amin. He was beaten and handed over to the police with serious injuries. He went to the spot early in the morning and rescued him. He was initially under treatment at Raipur Upazila Health Complex. He was admitted to Lakshmipur Sadar Hospital for better treatment at around 9:30 in the morning. He died under treatment.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Raipur Police Station Mohammad Lokman Hossain said that the body of dacoit Ruhul Amin, who was killed in the lynching, has been taken to the morgue of Sadar Hospital. A case is being filed in this incident.
