People's life has been disrupted due to intense heat in the northern region. The number of patients suffering from various diseases including fever and cold is increasing in the hospitals. In the last 24 hours, 18 people have died in Rangpur Medical College (RAMEC) Hospital due to various diseases including heatstroke, doctors said.
According to Ramek Hospital sources, the number of patients in this 1,000-bed hospital has doubled since the onset of severe heatwave in the northern region. Currently 1 thousand 520 patients are receiving treatment here.
Among them, about 3500 patients in the 3 wards of the medicine department and about 200 patients in the children's department are receiving treatment. Doctors said that most of the patients were admitted suffering from various diseases including fever, cold, cough and heatstroke.
Assistant Director of Ramek Hospital, Mustafa Zaman Chowdhury, said that due to the intense heat prevailing in the northern region, patients are being admitted to the hospital suffering from seasonal fever, colds and other diseases. Currently the patient's pressure is a little higher than usual. Among them, the pressure is more in medicine and children department. However, their doctors and nurses are providing medical care to patients. Although not all patients can be given beds, there is no problem in providing medical care.
Meanwhile, according to Rangpur Meteorological Office sources, the highest temperature recorded in Rangpur division was 38 degrees Celsius at Syedpur in Nilphamari on Saturday.
Apart from this, the temperature was 36.8 degrees Celsius in Rangpur, 36.2 degrees Celsius in Dinajpur, 35.7 degrees Celsius in Tentulia of Panchagarh, 36.2 degrees Celsius in Dimla of Nilphamari and 36.5 degrees Celsius in Rajarhat of Kurigram.
