The streets of Brahmanbaria city were submerged in heavy rain for several hours. Residents suffered due to flooding. Residents of the city complain that the canals and drains have been encroached upon by the influential and the remaining drains are not regularly cleaned by the municipal workers, resulting in waterlogging due to non-discharge.
Idris, the hotel owner of the city's Kumarsheel intersection, complained that water had entered the shop during the rain.
Helena Begum, a resident of Kautli area of the city, said, I am taking my grandson home with knee water. He believes that if the municipal authorities cleaned the drains properly, there would have been no flooding in the city.
Shamim, president of the Brahmanbaria district branch of Nongar, a social organization for the protection of rivers and lives, demanded the immediate rescue of the encroached canal.
