Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has announced Boishakhi allowance and 5 percent increment for private teachers and employees. The Prime Minister announced this at a teachers' function held at Ganabhaban today (November 8). Secondary and Higher Education Department Secretary Md Sohrab Hossain and Retirement Facilities Board Member-Secretary Principal Sharif Ahmed Sadi and others were present in the meeting.
At the end of the meeting, Md. Sohrab Hossain said, 'Honorable Prime Minister has just announced 20 percent Baisakhi allowance and 5 percent annual increment of the basic salary of private teachers. A revolution took place in the private education sector.
In response to the question whether Baisakhi allowance will be paid or not, Sohrab Hossain said, 'Teachers and employees will get Baisakhi allowance from next Baisakh. One hundred seventy seven crore twenty seven lakh fifty nine thousand rupees will be spent for this in one year. The Ministry of Finance has allocated this amount for the financial year 2018-2019. Now the Ministry of Finance will issue a notification with exemption.
He said that five percent annual growth will cost five hundred and thirty one billion eighty two lakh taka. The Ministry of Finance has allocated this money.
Sharif Ahmed Sadi said, five lakh private teachers-employees will be forever grateful to Sheikh Hasina, the daughter of the President of the Nation. Congratulations and gratitude to the Prime Minister. He called us today at the Ganabhaban and gave us a bunch of good news including Boishakhi allowance, five per cent increment and allocation of funds to the retirement-welfare fund. We were informed about this announcement last April.
Sheikh Hasina introduced Baisakhi allowance for government officials and employees without the demand of any group or organization. They have been getting Baisakhi allowance every year since National Pay Scale 2015. The Prime Minister made this announcement in response to the demands of private teachers.
President of Bangladesh Principal Council Professor Mohammad Mazharul Hannan congratulated and wished the Prime Minister for accepting the demand for the lives of private teachers-employees.
The general secretary of the Independence Teachers Council, Principal Md. Shahjahan Alam, left the Ganobhaban and the teachers took out a joyous procession. On Sunday, the teachers will march across the country.
