The Islamic Foundation has set the maximum amount of Fitra per person at Tk 2,310 and the minimum at Tk 70 this year. The decision was taken at a meeting of the National Fitra Determination Committee at Baitul Mukarram on Wednesday (May 30) morning. Last year, the minimum amount of Fitra was set at Tk 65 and the maximum at Tk 1,980.
The meeting was told that according to Islamic Sharia, any one of these products - flour, dates, raisins, cheese and barley - can be given as Fitra. 1 kg 650 grams of wheat or flour or 3 kg 300 grams of any one product, according to the ability, can be distributed among the poor as Fitra.
If you pay with flour, you will have to pay 70 taka, if you pay with barley, 500 taka, if you pay with raisins, 1,320 taka, if you pay with dates, 1,980 taka, and if you pay with cheese, you will have to pay 2,310 taka.
The meeting said that this Fitra has been determined based on the highest market price of flour, barley, dates, raisins and cheese collected from all divisions of the country. Fitra can be collected with any one of these products or its market price according to one's ability. Fitra will be collected even if the products are paid at the local price.
The meeting was presided over by Hafez Maulana Muhammad Mizanur Rahman, President of the National Fitra Determination Committee and Senior Pesh Imam of Baitul Mukarram National Mosque.
