A special prayer was held in Lakshmipur to pray for the good health and long life of Awami League President and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. The prayer was organized by the district Awami League and its associate organizations at the Lillah Jame Mosque premises in the city after Jumma prayers today, Friday.
Lakshmipur Sadar constituency MP AKM Shahjahan Kamal, District Council Administrator Shamsul Islam, District Awami League General Secretary Nur Uddin Chowdhury Nayan, Sadar Upazila Chairman AKM Salah Uddan Tipu and leaders of Awami League affiliates participated in the prayer.
There have also been reports of prayer ceremonies being held in various parts of the district to pray for the Prime Minister's long life.
It is worth mentioning that the Prime Minister's Bangladesh Airlines Boeing-777, which was en route to Hungary on Sunday, had to make an emergency landing at the airport in Turkmenistan due to a mechanical fault. The Prime Minister and her entourage had to make an unscheduled stopover there for 4 hours. After the fault was repaired, the Prime Minister reached Budapest on the same aircraft.
Meanwhile, the investigation into the incident has found evidence that the technical fault in the plane carrying Sheikh Hasina occurred due to the negligence of Biman Bangladesh Airlines officials. The Civil Aviation Ministry and Biman Bangladesh Airlines authorities have formed three investigation committees to investigate the incident. Six officials of the state-owned airline were temporarily suspended in the incident.
