DNA Day: Unlock the Genetic Song, 70 Years of Genetic Invention Secrets!

Al Kafi, Bashemurkribi Representative: The day was befittingly celebrated at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Agricultural University under the initiative of IBGE i.e. Tofazzal Islam. The seminar was open to all, without registration. Tanveer Hossain, plant breeder, science writer, was present as guest speaker in the seminar; Professor Md Riazul Islam PhD, BMB, DU; Associate Professor Dr. Munima Haque, Biotechnology Program, Brac University.

Founder Director of IBGE, Professor Tofazzal Islam, PhD, Fellow of BAS, APS, TWAS, IBGE was the keynote speaker. Researchers, teachers, students from different parts of the country were present in the seminar.

At the outset, Associate Professor Munima Haque highlighted the outstanding contribution of women scientists in DNA research. Nanomaterials, health physics, cancer biology, bio nanotechnology, nuclear radiation physics, radiation biotechnology etc.

After that, Dr. An excellent audio clip is played by Tanveer Hossain, which gives an idea of the structure of DNA and how it stores information. and highlighted the possibility and progress of storing information on DNA instead of hard drives in the future. Also expressed the concept of technological singularity.

Special guest speaker Prof. Riazul Islam gave an important speech on antibiotic discovery. His discovery and efficacy of the newly discovered homicorsin.

As the keynote speaker, Prof. Tofazzal Islam discussed the basics of DNA research. He shed light on important research in Bangladesh and his university. Baromasi has led the research on unraveling the life secrets of the jackal (genome sequencing).

He also said that we are the first in the world to complete genome sequencing of a variety of perennial jackfruit. This variety of jackfruit bears fruit throughout the year. The yield is four times higher than seasonal jackfruit. The taste and nutritional value of the fruit is very good.

At that time, the professor said that it is a matter of time for golden rice to come to the market. Crisper Kass also discusses the potential of genome editing. Mentions the financial support of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation for the application of their developed kit for rapid diagnosis of wheat blast disease through the use of genome editing in Africa, Asia and worldwide and thanked the donor agency.
