The Election Commission (EC) has issued a notification canceling the registration of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami. This notification was issued yesterday Sunday.
According to the notification, Jamaat-e-Islami had applied for registration as a political party under the Representation of the People Order, 1972. In view of this, Jamaat-e-Islami was registered on November 4, 2008. The team's registration number was 14. In the judgment of writ petition number 630 filed in the High Court in 2009, the court declared Jamaat-e-Islami illegal and void, and the registration of Jamaat-e-Islami was canceled according to section 90H of the People's Representation Order.
Election Commission Secretariat Secretary Helaluddin Ahmad signed the notification.
